about

The tape box / edition was released by Cipher Productions. A few copies are available from the following distros (as of 10/24/22): Sentimental Youth, Scream & Writhe, Cloister, Self Abuse, and White Centipede. Copies at Cipher are all sold out.

The majority of the spoken text is from a reading of the essay “The Emptiness of Existence” by Arthur Schopenhauer. I do not endorse this essay, it’s simply a tool. It is important to point out that Schopenhauer found redemption in music:

“Music expresses in an exceedingly universal language, in a homogeneous material, that is, in mere tones, and with the greatest distinctness and truth, the inner being, the in-itself, of the world, which we think of under the concept of will, according to its most distinct manifestation.”

The other voice segments refer to “The Call of the Void” or High Place Phenomenon, and a discussion on despair by social justice activists.

Thank you Chris Groves.
